St. Joseph Wins Recertification for Exceptional Stroke and Heart Failure Care
St. Joseph Medical Center has earned recertification as a Primary Stroke Center and earned renewal of its Disease Specific Care Certification for Advanced Heart Failure following two consecutive surveys, July 23 and 24, by The Joint Commission.
“This achievement is the direct result of our staff’s dedication and hard work,” said Sharon Strohecker, vice president of clinical services and chief nursing officer. “Throughout the tracers and committee reviews, the surveyor remarked that she was very impressed with the staff and leaders she met.”
Recertification as a Primary Stroke Center is confirmation that St. Joseph is committed to providing outcome-oriented, exceptional stroke care to the community. By working closely with pre-hospital services, the stroke center uses the latest advancements in medical technology to expedite diagnosis and speed recovery.
Advanced Heart Failure Certification highlights exceptional heart failure care. In addition to evaluating compliance with disease-specific care standards and heart failure-specific requirements, recertification showcases the medical center’s collaborative relationship with Berks Cardiology and other local practices to coordinate care for patients beyond the hospital walls.
