J. Andrew Weidman to lead St. Joseph Regional Health Network Board; Heidi Masano, Esq., named Vice Chair
Reading, Pa., May 15, 2015 — J. Andrew Weidman, a partner in Reinsel Kuntz Lesher LLP, a certified public accounting and consulting firm, was named chair of the St. Joseph Regional Health Network Board of Directors at the board’s recent annual meeting. He replaces Bruce Smith who completed his term as Chair.
Weidman joined the St. Joseph board in 2009 and most recently served as Vice Chair. Wyomissing-based attorney, Heidi Masano, Managing Partner of the law firm Masano Bradley, will assume the role of Vice Chair. She joined the board in 2012.
Weidman’s new role coincides with St. Joe’s impending move into Penn State Health, a newly established system that is on the leading-edge of a national trend to create health systems that are necessary for success as reform continues to change the nature of healthcare delivery in America. The new systems will enable better coordination of patient care, enhance access to services, manage the cost of care and increase focus on population health and overall wellness.
Weidman said “getting the Penn State Health deal done is just the beginning. We have the unique opportunity to build something special here. We have an opportunity to learn from Penn State and, at the same time, to share our best practices with them.”
He also noted that the “jewel of the Penn State satellite campus system—Penn State Berks—is nearby the St. Joseph Bern campus, which will enable us to closely collaborate on a variety of projects. This truly is an exciting time for St. Joseph Regional Health Network.”
Smith, President, Central Region, National Penn Bancshares, Inc., has served on the St. Joseph board since 2007 and been chair since 2010. He will remain on the board.
John Morahan, St. Joseph’s President and CEO, thanked Smith for his leadership.
“We owe Bruce an enormous amount of gratitude for his advocacy in pursuing the relationship with Penn State,” Morahan said. “His intelligence, affability, courage and competence all came into play as he worked to press our cause for the preferred partnership with Penn State. Bruce was the right person to lead us in these times.”
